Senior Public Policy and Government Relations Manager - Europe

About the role:

Successful navigation of the policy landscape is critical to deploying and scaling a business. Samsara is looking to grow its Public Policy and Government Relations team by adding an experienced agile and capable Senior Manager to forge new relationships represent the company and advance our interests in European markets. Our team works closely with lawmakers regulatory bodies trade associations industry experts and others to proactively engage in initiatives that advance Samsaras business interests. Internally our efforts support innovative work across the business including the engineering product strategy legal and partnerships teams. The ideal candidate will enjoy serving as a key contributor on a diverse range of substantive advocacy initiatives aid in identifying opportunities for engagement developing creative strategies and content and representing Samsara externally to key stakeholders in and out of government.

In this role you will:

• Help develop and execute policy strategies that advance Samsaras business goals in key European markets
• Identify and track proposed bills regulations and policy positions across the European Union and the UK that are relevant to Samsara assessing their potential impact and developing strategies for engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant policymakers regulatory officials trade associations and other key external stakeholders tracking your level of engagement to ensure impact in your work
• Assist with filings comments testimony and other input for legislative committees and regulatory bodies
• Manage outside consultants to expand our reach in key markets
• Work closely with the sales teams to help affect the adoption and usage of Samsaras technologies
• Collaborate with other Samsarians in the creation of content (collateral blog posts etc.) that articulate Samsaras vision and values through its products and services in a manner that is compelling to policymakers
• Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Bachelors degree required postgraduate degree in a relevant field preferred
• 8 years of relevant public policy political and/or government experience and an indepth understanding of the policymaking process and government relations in European markets
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in government affairs and advocacy in international markets (e.g. legislative wins relationships with officials involvement with third parties etc.)
• Skilled at persuasively and diplomatically advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points
• Experience managing multiple highpriority projects simultaneously in a fastmoving dynamic environment both collaborating with a team and working independently
• Ability to thrive in new situations learn quickly jump in and responsibly manage ones own time and deliverables in a remote work environment
• Teammate with a strong willingness to pitch in as necessary
• Highly organized flexible and detailedoriented
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

An ideal candidate also has:

• Passion for and knowledge of emerging technology and related public policy issues
• Experience in European or UK government in advocacy or inhouse on issues facing highly regulated industries in the UK or Europe
• Knowledge and experience with privacy artificial intelligence cybersecurity transportation or other public policy issues related to datadriven industries
• Knowledge of future of work labor and workforce development policy issues
• Proven ability to address unexpected challenges in new areas and get up to speed on unfamiliar subject matter quickly
• The ability to effectively translate governmenttobusiness and businesstogovernment issues
• The ability to issue spot identifying potential opportunities and challenges before they materialize
