Job Description

Purpose

The Public Health Educator plans manages and evaluates publichealth education initiatives for the Scales Neighborhood Nursing Program at theindividual group and community levels.

In alignment with the mission of the Scales NeighborhoodNursing Program the Public Health Educators take a systems level approach rootedin Milwaukees unique community context and history to advance health learn more about the Scales Neighborhood Nursing Program and Jessie SleetScales please follow thislink.

Essential Functions

Program Coordination

Community Outreach Education and Navigation

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other computer databases to record client information and communication.
  • Aid in compiling preparing and maintaining operations and outreach data/reports.
  • Collect analyze and report data on programmatic outcomes community engagement and health education activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of public health education interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to share programmatic impact with stakeholders and to inform decisionmaking.
  • Maintain files and accurate records of program activities and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

Public Health Educator I and II must be willing and able todo the following:

Minimum Requirements

Both Positions

  1. Bachelors degree in public health social work human services health education health science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. Valid drivers license and possession of a properly insured vehicle for use on the job at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Private Auto Allowance May Be Paid Pursuant to Section 350183 of The Milwaukee Code.

Public Health Educator II

  1. One year of professional experience in public health community outreach human services or health education performing duties closely related to the essential functions listed above.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may beconsidered. Public Health Educator II candidates must possess one year of professionalexperience in public health community outreach human services or healtheducation performing duties closely related to the essential function of theposition; education may not be substituted for the one year of experience.

THE SELECTION PROCESS will be jobrelatedand will consist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of educationexperience and/or responses to supplemental questions a written orperformance test a structured interview or other assessment methods.
