Purpose
The Public Health Educator plans manages and evaluates publichealth education initiatives for the Scales Neighborhood Nursing Program at theindividual group and community levels.
In alignment with the mission of the Scales NeighborhoodNursing Program the Public Health Educators take a systems level approach rootedin Milwaukees unique community context and history to advance health learn more about the Scales Neighborhood Nursing Program and Jessie SleetScales please follow thislink.

Essential Functions
Program Coordination
- Develop plan and oversee the implementation of public health education initiatives tailored to the Scales Neighborhood Nursing (SNN) Program.
- Coordinate efforts with Public Health Nurses and other team members to ensure seamless integration of educational components into program services.
- Monitor programmatic activities and ensure their alignment with health equity goals and organizational objectives.
- Maintain partnerships with community organizations and other governmental entities to support programmatic delivery and sustainability.
- Provide resources for clients who need MHD or community resources.
Community Outreach Education and Navigation
- Identify health education disparities in the community and plan develop and implement interventions.
- Assist in the development and design of health promotion and disease prevention education materials and sessions that are tailored to the target audience.
- Engage with and advocate for the community to build trust assess health educational needs and elevate their concerns to programmatic leadership and stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of program services through community outreach events workshops and distribution of educational materials.
- Expand community partnerships and relationships by attending community meetings and events related to health and wellbeing.
- Serve as a liaison for the SNN program.
- Utilize various delivery channels to assist with education including inperson online and print.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other computer databases to record client information and communication.
- Aid in compiling preparing and maintaining operations and outreach data/reports.
- Collect analyze and report data on programmatic outcomes community engagement and health education activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of public health education interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
- Prepare reports and presentations to share programmatic impact with stakeholders and to inform decisionmaking.
- Maintain files and accurate records of program activities and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

Conditions of Employment
Public Health Educator I and II must be willing and able todo the following:
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
- Must travel between and/or work at the Keenan South Side and Northwest Health Centers and perform work functions at locations throughout Milwaukee.
- May travel outside the City of Milwaukee occasionally overnight to attend training and conferences.
- May be required to carry a mobile device during business hours.
- May be exposed to infectious agents or toxins.
- Must wear industryrelated personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves facemask or face shield.
- Ability to frequently stand walk climb stairs and sit and occasionally move/lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to respond to an emergency and/or broad impact event.
- Required preemployment vaccines include:
- TB Test (at time of hire and annually throughout employment)
- MMR Vaccine
- Hep B Vaccine
- Varicella Vaccine
- Covid19 Vaccine
- Required preemployment tests include:
- Physical Exam
- Vision Exam

Minimum Requirements
Both Positions
- Bachelors degree in public health social work human services health education health science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Valid drivers license and possession of a properly insured vehicle for use on the job at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Private Auto Allowance May Be Paid Pursuant to Section 350183 of The Milwaukee Code.
Public Health Educator II
- One year of professional experience in public health community outreach human services or health education performing duties closely related to the essential functions listed above.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may beconsidered. Public Health Educator II candidates must possess one year of professionalexperience in public health community outreach human services or healtheducation performing duties closely related to the essential function of theposition; education may not be substituted for the one year of experience.

Desirable Qualifications
- Training as a community health worker.
- Experience working with underserved populations and communities.

- Knowledge of community health and outreach principles and practices.
- Knowledge of public health education programming and interventions that target the social determinants of health.
- Ability to develop and coordinate projects on time and within budget constraints.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize database project and case management information systems.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret jobrelated documents including procedural manuals governmental publications and periodicals.

Current Salary
Public Health Educator I
- The current salary range (Pay Range 2BN) is$48641 $55598annually and the resident incentive salary range for City of Milwaukee residents is$50100$57266 above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.
Public Health Educator II
- The current salary range (Pay Range 2DN) is$53914 $63140annually and the resident incentive salary range for City of Milwaukee residents is$55532$65034 above the minimum is possible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subject to approval.
