The Philanthropies Department (PHI) helps to invite individuals and families to follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ as they live the two great commandments to love God and their neighbors. Giving helps members and others experience the joy and blessings of participating in Gods work as they choose to follow inspiration and prophetic direction. To do this PHI facilitates and invites voluntary philanthropic giving (beyond tithes and fast offering) for programs and projects approved by the First Presidency. PHI teaches engages coordinates invites and reports regarding voluntary philanthropic contributions to the Church and its affiliated charities.
This Senior Manager Pipeline Development role exists to provide leadership expertise and oversight of the Leadership Giving and pipeline development function for Philanthropies (PHI) and the Church. The clientele for this role includes CES institutional leaders donor liaisons and leaders at all levels of PHI. Each of these audiences expect collaboration and alignment of strategy and direction as all work to support individuals in their quest to use their personal gifts of time talent treasure and testimony to bless the lives of others by making sacrifices and investments to support approved philanthropic priorities. The goal is to align giving activities and materials to help create an inspired giving experience for all involved.
This is a people manager role having supervision individual contributors.
ResponsibilitiesThis Sr. Manager Pipeline Development position leads the pipeline development team and spends their time Teaching (20%) Engaging (10%) Coordinating (40%) Inviting (15%) and Reporting (15%) in support of strategic coordination and invitations to participate in inspired giving experiences.
In alignment with the core responsibilities at PHI to Teach Engage Coordinate Invite and Report this positions responsibilities are aligned as follows:
Sr. Manager Pipeline Development
Teach (20%)
- Teach and be responsible for the training and development of team members to strengthen team skills and ensure their continuing productivity and effectiveness. Also supervise and evaluate team members teach the process of philanthropy in the Church to donors and key internal/external partners and master the case statement details for approved priorities and projects.
Engage (10%)
- Engage by overseeing development and maintenance of a pipeline portfolio of donors and prospective donors.
Coordinate (40%)
- Coordinate by moving the donor market via pipeline development data analytics donor relationship management and overseeing the scope deployment and utilization of pipeline development strategies coordinate with colleagues and internal and service partners assist Development Strategies and Donor Relations Director with integration of fundraising between and across functions/priorities (eg. annual major principal planned campaigns and projects) assures donors files are accurate and complete and contact reports and strategic initiatives with donors professionals and leaders are delivered in a timely manner.
Invite (15%)
- Invite by overseeing sharing of invitations for donors and prospects to consider making a gift through a comprehensive and strategic solicitation schedule.
Report (15%)
- Report by overseeing returning and reporting on the potential impact of gifts from donors including mass gift acknowledgments.
QualificationsRequired
- Must uphold and adhere to all policies and procedures of the Church and its affiliated charities be ethical and demonstrate professional demeanor at all times and in all situations.
- A bachelors degree (or an equivalent amount of combined education/experience of 4 years) and 8 years of experience in a business or relationship related field
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in sensitive situations with administrators directors and other department/institution leadership
- Proven writing skills and a working knowledge of print website and electronic media content delivery including proven proficiency with computer and software tools (e.g. Word PowerPoint other design tools etc.)
- Ability to diplomatically manage multiple projects and people effectively and efficiently with experience using project management software
- The ability to work with other individuals and groups including donors civic business and professional leaders
- The employee must regularly manage the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce)
- The employee is authorized in partnership with HR to hire or fire employees and recommends advancement promotion or any other change of status of employees within their reporting line
- Professional in demeanor appearance and language with English verbal/written communication skills including the ability to provide appropriate direction and receive and act upon feedback in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to clients including prospects donors institutional leaders and Philanthropies (PHI) colleagues
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
- Be physically available (onsite for preparation production and/or performance) of donor outreach activities and team collaboration as needed
- Ability to travel and interact with individuals in a variety of locations
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time repetitive motion for typing and filing and capacity to lift 2530 lbs.
Preferred:
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA MPA etc.) and/or extensive experience project and database management
- Nonprofit organization or fundraising experience
- Experience using project management software
