About the Position: We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Neurologistto join our robust and expanding practice. The successful candidate will work in a 150bed hospital currently undergoing a multibillion dollar renovation and expansionto our Womens and Childrens Hospital. This facility has become one of the largest birthing hospitals in the state of Louisiana and is home to the only Level III Surgical NICUin the area.

Responsibilities

Clinical Care:

  • Diagnose and treat pediatric neurological conditions including epilepsy neuromuscular disorders headaches developmental delays and neurogenetic disorders.
  • Conduct thorough neurological exams utilizing various diagnostic techniques such as EEG MRI and genetic testing as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatricians neurologists and rehabilitation specialists to develop comprehensive care plans.

Patient and Family Communication:

  • Provide clear empathetic communication with patients and families to discuss diagnoses treatment options and ongoing care.
  • Educate patients families and caregivers on disease management and care at home.

Clinical Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate timely and thorough documentation of patient evaluations diagnoses treatments and followup care in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure documentation meets compliance standards.

Collaborative Care and Case Management:

  • Work closely with other healthcare providers including primary care physicians physical therapists and psychologists to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Participate in regular multidisciplinary case conferences to discuss complex cases and coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Completed residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric neurology.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Neurology.
  • Active unrestricted medical license in the state of Louisiana.
  • BLS and PALS certifications are preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience in pediatric neurology with a strong understanding of a wide range of pediatric neurological conditions.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities such as EEG MRI and genetic testing.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong diagnostic skills and experience managing complex neurological cases.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to educate and empathize with pediatric patients and their families.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems with Epic experience preferred.
  • Research experience in pediatric neurology is a plus along with a commitment to staying current on evidencebased practices.
