Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a dynamic and businessoriented Corporate Counsel Core Retail and Commercial Transactions to lead legal support for our fastgrowing retail organization! This role offers the opportunity to partner directly with senior leaders across our merchandising procurement customer service and other key retail functions to deliver practical businessminded legal solutions. The successful candidate will also help define and enhance Chewys contract management strategies support retail operations and procurement initiatives and drive scalable selfservice tools to empower the business.
What Youll Do:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for Chewys core retail organization providing counsel on merchandising supplier relationships customer service returns gift cards and other retail operations.
- Lead contracting strategy process and negotiations for a wide range of agreements including supplier contracts vendor negotiations trade terms rebates procurement contracts and related initiatives.
- Partner with procurement finance and merchandising leadership to define and implement Chewys contract lifecycle management (CLM) strategy including document automation workflow optimization and training.
- Develop and maintain businessfacing resources including playbooks template libraries and escalation matrices to streamline lowrisk highvolume transactions and enable greater selfservice.
- Provide proactive legal support that identifies risk and opportunities early balances business objectives with legal requirements and builds scalable solutions that evolve with the business.
- Daytoday supervision of the contract manager supporting this space helping to mentor train and maximize the efficiency of the function.
What Youll Need:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 5 years of proven experience preferably inhouse supporting retail operations procurement or commercial transactions in a fastpaced environment.
- Deep experience drafting negotiating and managing a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Strong business acumen with an ability to balance legal risk against business objectives pragmatically and efficiently.
- A passion for building scalable businessfriendly legal solutions and proven success implementing contracting processes automation tools and selfservice resources.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear actionable advice to senior leadership.
- Some travel may be required.
