MD PhDor MD/PhD scientist is sought to join a laboratory at the forefront of academicdrug discovery cardiovascular biology and human induced pluripotent stem cells(hiPSCs). The Hong laboratory hasidentified small molecules that enhance cardiac performance in humanIPSCderived cardiomyocytes (iPSCCMs).The first goal is to examine the mechanism of action of these smallmolecules by identifying their cellular targets using cell biological andbiochemical approaches. Second goal isto utilize CRISPR/Cas9 genomic engineering technology to examine the impact ofgenomic ablation of the candidate target genes on iPSCCM and animal models.
Applicants are requiredto have a Ph.D. or M.D. and expertise in techniques of cell and molecularbiology. Depending on background and interestthe postdoc will perform experiments involving CRISPR/Cas9 genome editingproteomics biochemistry hiPSCs and iPSCCMs. Prior experience in these methodologies as well as drug targetidentification and cardiomyocyte physiology are highly valued.
