Job Description
Are you handson detailoriented and ready to work with a team that values quality and pride in every job Were looking for a Prep & Paint Technician to join our heavy equipment team someone who knows their way around sanders sprayers and a solid paint job. If youre handson detaildriven and love seeing your work roll out in all its freshly painted glory this could be your next move. Business Operating Hours/Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am 5:00 pm
What Youll Be Doing:
- Surface Preparation
- Perform sanding grinding and chemical cleaning of equipment surfaces.
- Mask components and areas not to be painted using tape paper and plastic.
- Inspect surfaces for imperfections and ensure appropriate conditioning before painting.
- Paint Application
- Mix and prepare primers paints and protective coatings to match specifications.
- Apply coatings using spray guns brushes or rollers to achieve uniform coverage.
- Apply multiple layers (primer base coat topcoat) as needed for proper finish and durability.
- Equipment Maintenance & Operation
- Operate and maintain painting equipment spray booths sand blasting booth and safety gear in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
- Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on paint systems and ventilation controls.
- Quality Control
- Check finished surfaces for paint defects drips or uneven application.
- Perform touchups and refinishing as necessary to meet quality standards.
- Ensure painted surfaces meet customer and manufacturer finish requirements.
- Other
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures including PPE usage and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Properly store label and dispose of paints thinners and other chemicals.
- Record and report work completed time spent and materials used.
What Were Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in auto body or industrial painting preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in painting and prepping large vehicles machinery or heavy equipment.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation paint types and application methods.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals paint codes and safety data sheets.
- Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations regarding paint booths and hazardous materials.
