Our specially trained doctors nurses paramedics and aircrew use helicopters turbo prop aircraft aeromedical jets and patient transport vehicles to provide critical support to over 8500 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals and aircraft in support of defence government and commercial contracts and energy and resource sector sites.
The role
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a High Acuity Flight Nurse to join our Northern Operations within this maximum term assignment.
Key responsibilities include:
delivering individualised high quality clinical care;
delivering inpatient assessment clinical management and emergency procedures;
maintaining CareFlights Standard Operating Procedures and clinical treatment protocols;
coordinating the transition of patients from one mode of transport to the next;
assisting the medical officer with medical management as appropriate;
managing physiological issues related to aeromedical transport; and
maintaining situational awareness throughout the retrieval process to identify safety hazards for the patient and aeromedical crew.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
be a registered nurse currently registered with AHPRA;
have evidence of 5 years fulltime emergency/critical care experience;
possess relevant post graduate qualifications in critical care or emergency nursing;
have current certification in ALS and TNCC or trauma course equivalent;
demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member in a critical environment;
be physically capable of meeting the challenges of aeromedical practice and retrieval work;
possess highly developed interpersonal written and verbal communication skills;
demonstrate effective consultation negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
have the ability to demonstrate ability/skills to operate in out of hospital environments; and
possess a current drivers licence; and
possess a current Working With Children Clearance or ability to obtain.
The following will be highly regarded:
Midwifery qualifications and registration.
Clinical experience working in paediatrics.
Previous experience working in the area of Indigenous health.
