Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
Our research team is focused on improving the health of families by implementing behavioral health interventions in community settings. We are looking for an RD NP or PhD with content expertise in nutrition or dietetics. This position is entirely researchbased with no clinical responsibilities. The program manager will spend their time working on the DOSE Study a multisite 5year clinical trial that aims to determine an optimal intervention strategy that can achieve effective weight loss for children with obesity. The patient population will likely have high social needs and many of the participants will reside in rural areas. We will enroll 450 children between the ages of 517 years old and their parents/caregivers from clinic sites throughout middle Tennessee. The intervention is specifically focused on delivering evidencebased content via telehealth or inperson counseling sessions in clinical settings. There is also an online ondemand intervention that has been developed to support the intervention delivery.

We are looking for a program manager with previous experience counseling families that match the targeted patient population. A background in Health Behavior/Health Education or Nutrition is preferred/ RD preferred. The program manager will help train certify and troubleshoot with nutritionists and community resource counselors delivering intervention content around seven health behavior targets: 1) fruits and vegetables 2) snacks 3) sugar sweetened beverages 4) physical activity 5) healthy sleep 6) healthy media use and 7) engaged parenting. Experience in research is preferred as the program manager will be responsible for adhering to study protocols monitoring fidelity of the intervention leading care coordination of our participants and working as a part of the study team to successfully implement all phases of the study. Our research group flourishes because of a supportive team environment so working as a part of a team is an essential component of this job. Because we work to meet families where they are trainings and intervention sessions may take place on nights or weekends either virtually or in the local community context which will require scheduling flexibility and reliable transportation. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  • Supports nutrition counseling and education for our participants using evidencebased nutrition practice guidelines and appropriate instructional methods and tools.
  • Facilitate care coordination with other study interventionists.
  • Problemsolve with study team to ensure high fidelity of the curriculum.
  • Contributes to the success of the study by actively participating in process improvement initiatives and shared decision making.
  • Adhere to study protocols around intervention implementation including fidelity monitoring.
  • Regularly completes quality check protocols to ensure data have been entered correctly efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in participant retention efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

A background in Health Behavior/Health Education or Nutrition is preferred RD preferred. Experience working with children and adults is strongly preferred.

A minimum of 24 months of experience in these areas is preferred. Experience in health communication skills such as motivational interviewing and shared goal setting is preferred as is experience working with underserved populations.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

  • Work well with other team members including adhering to professional communication standards.
  • Maintains professional documentation which meets department and VUMC standards as it relates to compliance.
  • Program manager should be organized and selfdirected.
  • Program manager must have reliable transportation.

Additional Information:

This is a fulltime position; 40 hours per week; will include some evenings and weekends.

Some heavy lifting is required.

Salary is dependent upon years of education and experience
