Job Description

The Middle School Interventionist will provide targeted academic support to students in grades 48 with a focus on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. This educator will design and implement datainformed interventions that help close achievement gaps and ensure all students reach gradelevel proficiency. The interventionist collaborates closely with classroom teachers instructional leaders and families to support student learning and foster a positive inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver effective smallgroup and oneonone instruction in ELA and Math using researchbased strategies and materials tailored to student needs.
  • Analyze multiple data sources including NWEA MAP assessments to identify students for intervention monitor progress and determine exit criteria.
  • Plan engaging differentiated lessons aligned with standards that develop essential academic skills and promote student mastery.
  • Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to assess student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Partner with general education teachers special educators and instructional coaches to share strategies coplan instruction and align interventions with classroom goals.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress provide academic support strategies and respond to concerns.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that affirms students identities promotes socialemotional development and values cultural diversity.
  • Engage in regular data and planning meetings with instructional leaders; contribute to and benefit from professional learning aligned to student needs.
  • Contribute to ongoing reflection and improvement of the schools intervention programs through analysis of outcomes and implementation of best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to address behavioral concerns that may impact academic progress using restorative or positive behavior strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of intervention plans student progress and communications with families and staff.
  • Curate or create highquality instructional materials aligned with student needs and curricular goals.
  • Assist with administration of schoolwide assessments (e.g. NWEA MAP state testing) and help prepare intervention students for success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and school goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Math English or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
  • Experience working in a diverse middle school or upper elementary classroom setting
  • Strong understanding of researchbased strategies for intervention and remediation
  • Proficient in the use of assessment tools (e.g. NWEA MAP) to guide instruction
  • Ability to analyze and act on student data in collaboration with a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner with staff and families
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and a commitment to equity in education

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects (textbooks and materials). The teacher often moves childrens desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. Positions may vary from standing sitting or walking. On a rare occasion it may be necessary to move quickly run etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt pea gravel on the playground or on the grass. The teacher must have manual dexterity to use office equipment manipulate books and other learning materials and assist students with various activities. The teacher must have repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
