Job Description
Compensation range:
$42.26 $54.10Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience
Shift: Days Shift length: 8 HoursDays off: Variable
Hours per pay period: 80
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Surgical Technologist Cardiovascular is to function as a team member during the preoperative intraoperative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Two (2) years hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist
One year vascular surgery experience
Desired:
Membership in a national surgical technologist organization (tracked by department)
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Current CPR recognition
Surgical Technologist Certification
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in majority of surgical procedures. Demonstrates advanced skills appropriate to the role of the Cardiovascular Surgical Technician. Demonstrates higher level critical thinking and problem solving skills. Must demonstrate technical competence professional judgment and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians staff patients and public. Must have the basic skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technologist. Must have the ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery. Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm efficient and focused. Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs unit based QI task forces and committees and actively participates in preceptor programs. Must have the ability to perform at the preceptor role in the training of students. Must have the ability to act as a department resource as a positive role model. Must be able to perform proficiently at intermediate and advanced levels and meet competency requirements. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
