About the role

selectability is seeking an acting team leader child and family care Townsville from the 12.05.2025 30.06.2025. As acting team leader you will be responsible for leading a team of child and family care professionals to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our care. Our youth residential program provides care and intensive support to children and young people who have a variety of leaders oversee house operations with a strengthsbased personcentred approach while also maintaining strong outcomes focus.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • overseeing the daily operations of the Child and Family Care services which includes monitoring managing and supporting a team of youth workers to maintain: workplace health and safety checks cleanliness of the property managing positive behaviour support plans compliance checking
  • ensuring that all team members are trained and up to date with relevant procedures and regulations
  • providing support and guidance to employees when required
  • reporting any concerns or incidents to the relevant manager
  • providing exceptional customer service to all internal and external stakeholders
  • maintaining professional boundaries at all times
  • maintaining accurate and up to date records and documentation
  • facilitating team meetings and professional development activities
  • assisting children and young people in the development and delivery of their individual care plans and goals
  • assisting and empowering children and young people in maintaining their environment

About you

To be successful you must:

  • minimum or equivalent of a certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention for Residential Care
  • have a positive attitude
  • possess clear and effective communication skills
  • demonstrate computer literacy and accuracy in record management
  • experience working in a team environment
  • exhibit an ability to problem solve
  • be able to follow policies and procedures at all times
  • be able to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals
  • must be available to be on call to provide support and assistance as required
  • travel across selectability sites is required

You will also need:

  • a current minimum P1 C class Queensland drivers licence
  • a currently registered roadworthy and fully comprehensive vehicle
  • current nationally recognised First Aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain)
  • a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Quality Safety & You
