POSITION: Graduate Assistant for Prevention Education

SUPERVISOR: Deputy Title IX Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Center for Compliance Accessibility Resources and Education (CARE)

LOCATION: Oncampus at Tiffin University in Tiffin OH

JOB TYPE: Parttime (20 hours per week)


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Tiffin University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Prevention Education who will provide departmental assistance and customer service support to facilitate the administration of educational programs in accordance with the Center for Compliance Accessibility Resources & Educations (CARE) Comprehensive Prevention Plan and applicable civil rights laws related to campus response and prevention for powerbased personal violence.


The Graduate Assistant for Prevention Education will be responsible for both short and longterm projects in the office that directly relate to ongoing prevention and awareness efforts. The Graduate Assistant will have some experience and/or knowledge of powerbased personal violence prevention traumainformed response and peertopeer education and will be able to rapidly assume all responsibilities related to the position in a professional manner that reflects the mission of Tiffin University. The position will assist in ensuring compliance with federal regulations and guidance while striving to advance initiatives beyond the requirements.


This is a parttime position offering valuable professional experience in a dynamic academic setting. The GA will work 20 hours per week. The benefits of this position include a monthly stipend and 100% of tuition costs are covered by Tiffin University. The Graduate Assistant MUST be admitted and enrolled in a minimum of 4 credit hours each semester towards a Masters program at Tiffin University to be eligible and maintain eligibility as well as maintain enrollment and good academic standing throughout the assistantship.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop prevention and outreach programs centered around sexual assault prevention dating/domestic violence prevention bystander intervention consent education etc.
  • Create social media content in accordance with CAREs Comprehensive Prevention Plan and manage Resource Center social media accounts.
  • Attend required training and biweekly supervision meetings.
  • Create print resources and educational materials for outreach events and for the Center for CAREs Office for Resources and Education.
  • Exhibit studentcenteredness in the performance of all job duties.
  • Remain current with higher education issues and trends related to Title IX FERPA etc.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs all special projects as needed or directed.
  • Commitment to represent the University and the Center for CARE in a professional and positive manner both on and off duty.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education:

  • A bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution is required as well as enrollment in Tiffin Universitys graduate program during the Graduate Assistant position.

Other:

  • Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic.
  • Professionally conduct themselves.

  • Experience in an office or administrative capacity or a role providing similar services and assistance.
  • Demonstrated success in networking across departments and programs.
  • Knowledge of Title IX & FERPA.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues.

  • Excellent listening oral and written communication skills that promote effective working relationships with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva.
