Job Description

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Business Management Public Administration Education Social Sciences or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in program management or a related field.
  • Alternative Combinations of related experience and education may be considered such as 6 years of related experience.

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others from varying backgrounds will understand.
  • Skills in public speaking adult training methods and collaboration and facilitation

The successful candidate must pass a namebased background investigation as a condition of employment.

Position Title: Business Program Specialist

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Business Program Specialist. This position manages and coordinates the daily operation of the Agencys Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) programs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. This includes recruiting small businesses; making eligibility determinations; implementing MDTs business development program; monitoring compliance; and managing and reporting program specific data. Requires approximately 30% instate travel including overnight and long day trips. Requires the ability to lift between 2550 pounds. This position reports to the Civil Rights Program Supervisor and does not directly supervise others.
