JOB TITLE: SCHOOL NUTRITION SUPERVISOR

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

BENEFITS STATUS: FULLTIME

SALARY RANGE (monthly): $ 3427.59 $4404.77

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under general supervision and direction provides support to the School Nutrition Director by assisting in the operation of the child nutrition program. Participates in the development implementation and oversight of the policies and procedures that govern the school systems School Nutrition program. Provides general training supervision and foodservice knowledge to cafeteria site managers. Reports to the School Nutrition Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Generally responsible for daytoday operation of assigned schools and supper program operation.
  • Assists with the management of the summer feeding program
  • Develops and implements onboarding training training rotations for assistant managers
  • Maintains CACFP application and auditing information
  • Works closely with QUEST and PREK departments to ensure supper and snack programs are operating correctly.
  • Must be willing to work in schools if no subs or floating employees are available
  • Attends recruiting events including annual recruiting event at CVCC. Team member will be working until 6:00 PM for these events.
  • Team member will be expected to work until 4:30 PM to conduct supper audits on a regular basis.
  • Team member sets up interviews for all positions writes interview questions recommends new employees for hire and works closely with HR to assist with the onboarding process
  • Strong background in human resource management systems; such as LINQ and TalentED
  • Works with managers and coworkers to create positive line presentation of food items
  • Creates the best operational flow for students to expedite meal service
  • Attends vendor meetings on ergonomics or new software advancements to aid operation
  • Manages daytoday operation of CACFP supper program and ensures all documentation has been completed
  • Maintains ServSafe Proctor Certification
  • Creates materials for professional development and tracks training based on DPIs requirements
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive computer skills
  • Places floating managers and cafeteria assistants each day
  • Has knowledge of substitute software preferably Rover software
  • Teaches ServSafe and maintains list of current certified team members
  • Provides new employee training for all employees
  • Maintains HACCP books and annual training to cafeteria managers
  • Assists with employee documentation forms
  • Maintains all applications for federal programs
  • Performs onsite audits for all federal programs
  • Provides onthejob training for managers and staff
  • Plans staff development activities for backtoschool workshops
  • Assist with implementation of special diets
  • Works with Menus Supervisor and Managers on the implementation of special diets
  • Assists with financial control procedures
  • Monitors financial stability of reporting cafeterias
  • Trains managers to complete required reports
  • Monitors compliance to state and federal regulations
  • Monitors financial stability of reporting cafeterias
  • Knowledge and application of basic computer skills knowledge of POS (Point of Sale) software a plus
  • Inspects facilities for cleanliness health and safety
  • Followsup on sanitation health and safety reports
  • Works collaboratively with local sanitation officials
  • Creates and enforces standardized recipes in software systems
  • Monitors food quality and production
  • Supervises school nutrition managers and teams
  • Identifies problems and provides counseling to managers regarding possible solutions
  • Recommends hiring and disciplining of employees
  • Assist with orientation programs for employees
  • Provides onthejob training for managers and team
  • Assist with and presents management training sessions
  • Plans staff development activities
  • Monitors sanitation practices
  • Assures that planned menus are followed
  • Enforces standardized recipes
  • Monitors food quality and production
  • Inspects for proper equipment maintenance and communicates effectively with Maintenance supervisor
  • Works cohesively with School Nutrition team as well as all CCS department personnel
  • Duties as assigned from SN Director; all duties may not be specifically listed

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Generates reports as needed and requested.
  • Provides assistance to other departmental functions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Director

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Priority will be given to candidates with an associates degree is in Foods and Nutrition and/or Business Administration. Although related field of study and four years of experience in food service and human resource management or an equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities perform essential and additional job functions will be considered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirements: Requires heavy physical work. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift at least 40 pounds. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read moderately complex forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and supply requisitions using prescribed format.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagrammatic form.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add subtract divide and multiply.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using a computer

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress.

Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk write and hear.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough knowledge of hiring processes
  • Knowledge of CACFP AtRisk Program
  • High level of knowledge of food preparation and standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal regulations governing school food service programs.
  • Must be able to prioritize work.
  • Skilled in the use of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Ability to compute servings per purchased unit.
  • Ability to develop and present training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of employees
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Must have the ability to make and/or accept change with little or no difficulty and to work as a member of an organizational team.
  • Ability to attend to details necessary to complete daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to different sites required.
