Job Description

Job Title: Production ManagerLocation: Forest Park IL
Business Unit: Duraco DirectFLSA Status: Salary Exempt
Reporting to: Sr. Director of Operations Department: Operations
Direct Reports: YesEffective Date: May 2025
Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for managing labor manufacturing processes and productivity and ensuring quality and safety processes are followed to produce top quality products. Individual ensures that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality. The Production Manager maintains responsibility for the process procedures and staffing utilized within the plant to get the work completed at the most cost effective and optimized level. Individual is responsible for both personnel and material resources across the facility.
Responsibilities:
  • Possess strong sense of ownership and are accountable for the success of the production team.
  • Show courageous leadership by coaching asking questions and intervening when needed. Challenge status quo and past norms to make the operations more effective and safe.
  • Role model the professionalism and behaviors expected
  • Develop and implement production KPIs monitor performance and improve on an annual basis including cost and efficiency savings
  • Responsible for executing a production schedule by aligning human and material resource planning within the site.
  • Monitor production processes and escalate schedule adjustments as needed to serve the customer
  • Support quality control and quality assurance programs conduct Root Cause Investigation (A3)
  • Identify department training needs and create development plans
  • Ensure production/products are on time cost effective and meet all quality expectations
  • Ensure production team utilizes accurate job standards and standard work for expected performance quality and safety; update as needed
  • Analyze process workflow employee and space requirements and equipment layout; identify and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain safe injury/accidentfree workplace by establishing following and enforcing safety standards and policies; comply with legal regulations
  • Adopt and implement best practices within the production environment
  • Lead motivate and support team (5 Direct Supervisors and 80 Indirect Operators)
  • Abide by the rules outlined in the Union contract

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in related field OR 10 years of related manufacturing experience
  • Experience of 35 years related in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in various manufacturing environments
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Tools
  • Previous supervisory and / or management responsibility for office or hourly personnel
  • 5 years people management conflict resolution and employee relations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing environment in adhesive roll / die coating laminating slitting and die cutting
  • Experience with Kaizen events and training
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Experience in managing union workforce
  • Experience with Supply Management and Supplier Quality Assurance
  • Implementation experience with SPC and process capability
  • Certified Six Sigma Belt
  • Certified Lean Practitioner

The salary range for this position is $100000 $145000 based on experience.
