POSITION SUMMARY:
The Diagnostic Technologist Outpatients primary responsibilities include the positioning of the chest hand wrist forearm elbow knee foot or ankle in preparation for xray. The Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at a level not requiring direct supervision operates Xray equipment processes images and documents into PACS. The Diagnostic Technologist provides basic patient care under the supervision of the clinic nurse. They may perform selected procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. Patient care would include: obtaining vital signs placing patients in exam rooms obtaining specimens including blood draws if qualified preparing patients for clinician evaluation and assisting clinician. The Outpatient Diagnostic Technologist will also see that the area is orderly and well stocked with supplies and equipment. The Diagnostic TechOutpatient may also float to Main Radiology.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure and function patient care positioning principles of radiographic exposure and quality assurance. Must have medical terminology knowledge. Must be selfmotivated. Phlebotomy skills and general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment desired. Must demonstrate technical competence. Capable of using computer software programs. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians staff patients and public. Must show sensitivity for the patient and family. Must be able to follow instructions work quickly and accurately in a fastpaced environment. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
