Paraprofessional English Language Development
The job of Paraprofessional English Language Development (ELD) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the formative assessment and data collection of students English language acquisition from their native language; administering tests; performing classroom clerical tasks and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with ELL students.
This job reports to the Principal.

Pay
$15.52 $19.48 per hour (based on relevant work experience)
Requirements:
Administers tests homework assignments makeup work etc. with the students for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Attends work on a regular and predictable basis for the purpose of providing students and staff with high quality service and instruction.
Creates instructional resources as needed (e.g. games bulletin boards etc.) for the purpose of providing enhancement to the learning environment.
Implements under the supervision of the teacher instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Interacts consistently with students for the purpose of educating students.
Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom playground field trips library lunchroom bus loading/unloading etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks using existing skills. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multistep written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; and age appropriate activities.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities meetings and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific jobrelated data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job
include: communicating with diverse groups including those with limited English proficiency; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; and prefer bilingual or multilingual ability.
Responsibilities include: working with immediate supervision; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organizations services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some climbing and balancing frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting 40% walking and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Continuing Educ./Traning: 10 hours Professional Development/yearly CPR Training
Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
