Position Description
Position Overview:
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of stationary boilers air compressors generators and refrigeration equipment at the Central Plant facility.
Job Duties:
- Operates and maintains mechanical equipment which includes visually inspecting the equipment at intervals to maintain operation detecting malfunctions and repairing equipment as needed.
- Reading wiring schematics and troubleshooting controls performing water samples and adding chemicals as needed.
- Changing filters and belts greasing motors and pump bearings unstopping drain lines repairing electrical receptacles switches lights and ballasts.
- May apply advanced skills in the area of specialization adapting procedures techniques tools materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
- Resolves most questions and problems.
- May be required to drive a personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
- Assists and trains less experienced coworkers and performs other duties as assigned.

Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- 2nd grade or higher Stationary Engineer License required.
- Type II EPA Certification required.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of handson experience in various aspects of building engineering operations repairs and maintenance of commercial and/or industrial facilities.
Knowledge Skill & Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough neat and timely manner.
- Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in maintenance engineering trades.
- Must display mechanical aptitude.
- Good understanding of the installation of equipment and ductwork.
- Selfstarter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
- Ability to maintain a courteous helpful behavior at all times.
- Ability to receive CJIS clearance pass security check and drug test as required. This position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
- May be required to obtain license in assigned area.
- Valid drivers license (Texas upon hire) and a good driving record.

Preferences
Education:
- Two (2) years of related technical school or courses.
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification.
Experience:
- Seven (7) years handson experience in various aspects of building engineering operations repairs and maintenance of commercial and/or industrial facilities such as air handlers pumps boilers chillers and motors.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
FullTime Regular 40 hours per week.
Subject to early mornings late evenings weekends and holidays at times depending o the project or workload.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience based on 26 pay periods.
Physical Demands:
May work outside in all kinds of weather; may work with no air conditioning or heating will work on ladders and scaffolding; duties require standing sitting stretching bending stooping climbing frequent lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment supplies and tools and must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items. Will work in cramped and awkward positions with all types of mechanical tools electric and other equipment and may be exposed to dust dirt paint fumes etc.
