The World Affairs Council of Atlanta invites nominations and applications for the position of Director Atlanta World Affairs Council. The Director is responsible for overseeing and managing operations personnel and financial affairs to ensure the Council fulfills its mission. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to the Councils mission and worldclass reputation while demonstrating a record of success in business or nonprofit growth strategy project and people management customer service and strategic communications.
Established in 2010 the World Affairs Council of Atlanta is a nonpartisan membership and grant supported organization with a mission to provide a forum for informed discussion of the global affairs that impact Metro Atlanta and support the citys transformation into an international economic hub. Based at Georgia State Universitys J. Mack College of Business the Council serves as a vehicle for the Universitys commitment to important civic and political institutions. The position includes eligibility for the University System of Georgias pension benefits and continuing education.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the President of the Council the Director will be responsible for the following:
Business Strategy: Develop and execute an implementation strategy for the Presidents vision ensuring scalable growth and financial sustainability.
Strategic Relations: Build and maintain local national and international relationships that drive fundraising strategic partnerships and university community and membership goodwill.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small team in a fastpaced dynamic creative environment. Provide guidance and support to ensure their professional development and optimal performance. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Project Management: Oversee the delivery of worldclass inperson and online programming. Establish performance metrics and a system for continually measuring and improving the member and partner experience.
Budgeting & Resource Management: Develop and manage the Councils budget.
Sales & Marketing: Identify and initiate business development opportunities to optimize revenue. Oversee communications strategies that drive sales while elevating the Councils brand and influence.
Board Relations: Develop and implement a board communication strategy. Oversee biannual board reporting.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and six years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Proven success in a senior leadership role of a small team preferably at a nonprofit or startup
Strong knowledge of nonprofit management fundraising and strategic planning
Demonstrated international experience in business government NGO journalism or academia
Superior written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills tact and diplomacy
Excellent leadership and people management skills
Experience in managing budgets
