Position Summary
Do you want to change the way people use energy and help Xcel Energy reach our carbonneutral goal by 2050 We are looking for experienced engineers to provide technical expertise and strategic direction for our residential programs which help customers use energy more efficiently. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to share technical information and work collaboratively across internal and external teams.
This position provides technical support in developing and maintaining Xcel Energys array of residential offerings for beneficial electrification energy efficiency and distributed energy resources. As advanced grid infrastructure grows this position will evolve to find new ways to support our customers.
The following job summary and responsibilities reflect the duties of the Engineer level; the Sr. Engineer will differ as different skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with their skills and experience.
This a hybrid position (three days onsite two days remote) officed out of either 401 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis MN office or our Denver HQ T3 location.
Essential Responsibilities
Review and take responsibility for the validity of conservation program analyses in the assigned areas. This requires knowledge of the regulatory as well as internal rules and guidelines for the technicalfinancial models. Document and run technicalfinancial models ensuring they meet state and corporate guidelines. Ensure that projects will withstand regulatory scrutiny to validate rebate expenditures and maximize Companys investments.
Provide guidance training and education to internal staff Xcel Energy Marketing and Sales customers and trade allies on technology issues. Responsibilities include consulting with customers on program offerings team with product development and program managers to improve and expand product and services offerings for conservation programs.
Develop and maintain Xcel Energys technical leadership in specific assigned area for gas or electric conservation programs (HVAC lighting compressed air energy efficient building construction motors controls industrial processing boilers furnaces recommissioning). This position is intended to be a key technical resource in the assigned areas.
Research new technologies and applications to improve and expand Xcel Energy conservation offerings. Monitor federal state and local energyrelated codes to determine whether changes in efficiency levels affect current conservation program guidelines and how it might impact program performance.
Leverage internal expertise to customer advantage by developing relationships with external networks of engineering and architectural firms governmental agencies industry associations and research firms. Consulting with customers as part of product delivery customized customer consulting on project specific basis and acting technical sales.
Senior Engineer:Plans organizes and provides technical guidance and expertise on the work of other staff. Evaluates progress of the staff and results obtained and recommends major changes to achieve overall objectives. Serves as a mentor to internal staff members.
Energy Efficiency EngineerSalary Range: $82800 $117600
Minimum Requirements
BSME BSEE or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited curriculum.
6years minimum experience preferred in energy conservation strategies or related field and significant direct customer contact.
Experience preferred in one of more of the following: consulting engineering industrial processes technical sales and project management.
Sr. Energy Efficiency Engineer Salary Range: $95200 $125000
Minimum Requirements
BSME BSEE or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited curriculum required.
8 years experience with energy conservation preferred in one or more of the following: energy engineering consulting HVAC lighting compressed air energy efficient building construction motors controls industrial processing boilers furnaces recommissioning.
1 year minimum of utility conservation program experience.
Preferred Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer certification preferred.
Experience with electrification demand response and/or system planning.
