Senior Facilities Equipment Engineer (Level 6)

Spectrolab Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Companys Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sylmar California.

Spectrolab is the worlds leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolabs stateoftheart space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earths orbit as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956 Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high efficiency solar cells for space missions. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 a Spectrolab product became the first solar panel to be placed on the moon.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Sponsors or leads teams to develop company / industry level technical applications for complex process engineering and intregrated systems
  • Defines and implements processes and industry standards
  • Leads the integration of the activities of multiple engineering disciplines and outside consultants
  • Represents Boeing when interfacing with government and industry agencies
  • Sponsors or leads teams to develop company / industry level technical applications for complex maintenance/reliability engineering and intregrated systems

  • Reviews records inspects measures and tests to document assets operating and maintainability condition for the purpose of determining whether to continue to operate repair surplus or replace
  • Applies and develops equipment condition coding processes and standards
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to control hardware software and documentation configuration of complex equipment in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements to ensure a maintainable repeatable process
  • Applies and develops configuration management policies and processes
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to create cost estimates for the acquisition and/or installation or modification of complex equipment to support customer budget and business planning and analysis activities for current and future year requirements
  • Applies and develops cost estimating policies and processes
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to create review and approve complex equipment designs through the application of engineering methodologies for the acquisition creation or modification of equipment
  • Designs will meet the stakeholders validated specifications requirements and/or functions including adherence to applicable legal requirements
  • Incorporates maintainability and reliability principles into all designs
  • Ensures the integration of equipment with related infrastructure
  • Develops design standards and tools
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to create review revise maintain and organize equipment documents and drawings of equipment in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements
  • Applies and develops documentation standards
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to develop approve and implement the testing and acceptance of complex equipment to validate that equipment performance meets the documented specifications
  • Documents results for historical record
  • Applies and develops equipment testing and acceptance standards
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to plan manage and coaches others in the execution of multiple complex projects by leading a team of stakeholders in the acquisition and modification of equipment to enable the customer to achieve the defined business objectives and longrange business plan in accordance with company and accounting policies as applied to equipment
  • Manages project expenditures within authorized budgets
  • Creates maintains and communicates project management information to senior management
  • Creates contract scope terms and conditions
  • Ensures suppliers comply with all contract obligations
  • Promotes the use of project management methodologies
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to develop and recommend equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tools to ensure that equipment operational and maintenance processes are effective and efficient for operations customers. Improves existing equipment reliability
  • Ensures that rampup of existing and/or new equipment designs address maintainability and reliability principles
  • Provides technical recommendations and solutions by investigating evaluating interfacing with suppliers and stakeholders troubleshooting and responding to maintenance/operator questions related to complex equipment
  • Applies and develops equipment reliability policies and processes
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to develop review and approve bid and procurement specifications of complex equipment by teaming with cross functional subject matter experts and applying engineering methodologies for the acquisition or modification of equipment which will meet the stakeholders requirements
  • Incorporates maintainability and reliability principles into all specifications
  • Applies and develops equipment specification standards
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to provide technical recommendations and solutions by investigating evaluating interfacing with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Troubleshoots and responds to maintenance and/or operator questions related to complex equipment to support the customers requests
  • Prime spokesperson on companys technical capabilities and future directions
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to research technologies processes materials and methodologies related to equipment by attending educational events reading technical publications reviewing emerging trends and studying historical data in order to identify opportunities for improvement in current and future projects
  • Mentors and shares learning with peers
  • Serves as a consultant to top management in longrange company planning for new or projected areas of technological research and advancement
  • Identifies and develops strategies and tactics to address market dynamics of our suppliers and their products
  • Applies and develops enterprise resources to train and/or assist in the development and delivery of training of operators maintenance personnel and others in order to transmit information necessary to correctly operate and maintain complex equipment
  • Delivers training for new or modified equipment changes in process changes in personnel and/or as periodically required by company policy or legal requirement

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry
  • Experience with software coding practices
  • More than years of experience with automation systems maintenance robotics systems and various types of equipment controllers such as Siemens 840D Fanuc and Allen Bradley

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • More than years of Software Configuration Management experience

Relocation:

Position may require travel up to 5% of the time.
