The 9th Grade Summer Program is a 4week summer learning experience for rising 9th graders whom CPS as identified as needing additional academic skill development to reach proficiency. Students will receive targeted developmentally responsive instruction in the subjects of Mathematics English Language Arts and Physics. Curriculum and instruction will be studentcentered and focus on active learning to motivate and engage students.
The Cambridge Public Schools seeks a teacher for each of the core subject areas: ELA Math and Physics. The teacher will attend orientation/planning meetings prior to the start of the program (dates to be determined); analyze assessment data and develop a 4week curriculum to meet identified needs; teach two classes during the 4week program; incorporate elements of Development Design and AVID into lesson planning and execution; administer pre and post assessments and analyze results; and attend weekly staff meetings.
MinimumRequirements:
Candidates for the position must be licensed in secondary in the subject taught and/or Special Education and should demonstrate an excellent record as a classroom teacher (minimum 3 years) with strong planning organizational and pedagogical skills. Candidates must have the desire to design developmentally responsive curriculum to meet identified student needs as well as the ability to plan and implement assessmentbased instruction. Preferred but not required is some familiarity with English Language Learners AVID Developmental Design methodologies or similar programs and an interest in incorporating fitness activities into learning. Preference will be given to regularly appointed teacher(s) from the Cambridge Public Schools.
Service agreement to be paid at summer school teacher rate of $50/hour. Not to exceed $6000 (120 hours).

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a nonexemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
