We are searching for a Senior Underwriter to form a key part of Chubbs A&H Midlands & South Corporate Team. The successful candidate will currently have underwriting experience at a Senior Underwriter or Underwriter level and will have responsibility for generating growth of the Portfolio with key Brokers and Clients whilst maintaining and developing a portfolio of existing accounts.

In this role you will be responsible for the underwriting and servicing of personal accident and travel policies for Corporate clients and the production of new business. You will support our Accident & Health business by developing and handling the underwriting and relationship of a panel of accounts both existing and new to Chubb. Key activities include account management referrals portfolio management product development compliance and governance. You will also be expected to get involved with planning forecasting and reporting along with liaising with key Chubb people to maximise opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new business or renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines specified budget and local business plan
  • Represent and promote Chubb corporately to brokers internal and external clients. This may involve servicing key producers and clients monitoring business acquisition and retention as well as maximising crossselling opportunities
  • Assist in formulating underwriting strategy forecasts and portfolio management in order to achieve underwriting profitability. To ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility by undertaking quantitative underwriting reviews and peer reviews
  • Prioritise and develop products within area of specialist expertise in order to improve client retention and new business. This may involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally
  • Represent and promote Chubb and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues as well as clients
  • Help train and mentor underwriters and assistant underwriters taking referrals and offering training and advice
  • Provide accurate monthly and quarterly forecasting reports

Account Management:

  • Partner / Client Management: P & L management of existing and newly acquired clients ensuring profitability pricing adequacy appropriate terms and conditions apply.
  • Compliance & Regulation: You will ensure product integrity and compliance with all internal and external regulatory principles and guidelines specifically including all aspects of FCA and Treating Customers Fairly. Ensuring contracts and agreements are signed up to date relevant and operative.
  • You will set and achieve challenging Business plans for the retention development growth and increasing profitability of a designated panel of Key Partners / Clients and new Partners.

Projects Data Initiatives Product development and Revenue Maximization:

  • Support regional and Home Office project initiatives.
  • Support A&H product development and implementation.
  • Support underwriting and data analytics in conjunction with global and regional digital underwriting and analytic teams to help accelerate and optimize digital distributions.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • ACII preferred though not essential
  • A Levels or higher

Skills & experience requirements:

  • Considerable underwriting and market experience preferably from within a global organisation is advantageous but not essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the insurance market and competitors
  • Solid experience of dealing with brokers and clients
  • Results driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills data management and database knowledge.
  • Strong Excel PowerPoint and Word capabilities.
  • Able to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to provide quality service to clients and internal business partners.
