As a Senior Engineer you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. You show good problem solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues. You leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences.

Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decisionmaking accounting for several factors such as viability within Targets technical environment maintainability and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proofofconcept activities for new technologies. Manage total product financials and forecasting. Lead the design lifecycle management and total cost of ownership of services. Lead and conduct code review design review testing and debugging activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions. Participate in routine and nonroutine construction automation and implementation activities ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Provide technical oversight and coach others to resolve complex and severe technical issues. Lead disaster recovery activities and contribute to disaster recovery planning. Embed data quality protocols throughout data acquisition processing storage and operational use.
The Sales and Tender teams mission is to enable Target to modernize and grow while ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial data to our SAP products payment settlement systems analytics and reporting vendor/seller income and payments marketing supply chain and more enterprise services and systems. We focus on developing services and tools that can adapt to new and changing technology and processes without impacting our ability to server our consumers. While we spend most time on backend development testing and building controls to ensure we handle every piece of data correctly we also have limited UI support for our business partners. By the numbers were receiving processing and providing millions of records daily to hundreds of consumers inside and outside the company.
The teams current focus is to modernize aging technology applications while ensuring proper critical financial controls. There is a focus to partner with teams across the enterprise to maintain timely complete and accurate financial transactions. In addition to the modernization and consistency efforts Sales and Tender is heavily involved in enterprise enablement. The team supports multiple Enterprise Key Initiatives annually from testing and scoping to the development of new technology.

Sr Engineers are responsible for:
Being an active participant in team ceremonies like daily stanups and biweekly sprint plannings
Knowing and engaging with product partners within their domain
Understanding their capacity and owning feature development from test to prod
Designing and implementing testable and supportable features
Leaning and growing relevant engineering skills and sharing them with your peers
Researching and providing proof of technology overviews for new and upcoming technologies
Identifying impending risks or opportunities in existing owned technologies
Engaging in break fix and oncall support work
Understanding their product domain and actively managing the product withing
Relevant experience with the below technologies are recommended:
CI/CD: Vela or similar service (drone chef etc.)
Storage and Caching: Postgres Cassandra Redis and Elasticsearch
Languages: Java Groovy Kotlin Javascript and Python
Frameworks: Spring Boot Camel and Praxis
Data Movement: Kafka Benthos
Metrics Visualization: Grafanna
About you:
4 year degree or equivalent experience
5 years of software development experience
Demonstrates strong domainspecific knowledge regarding Targets technology capabilities and key competitors products and differentiating features
Working knowledge on packagespecific configuration and deployment along with ability to build custom solutions
Designs new testing methods and resolves routine and nonroutine technical issues with minimal assistance
Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
Delivers highperformance scalable repeatable and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
Influences and applies data standards policies and procedures
Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and selfdirected education
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
