Job Description

Description

The purpose of this position is to seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion. The Elevator Mechanic reports to the Elevator Mechanic Supervisor. The roles main responsibility is to ensure that churchowned elevators escalators and other units assigned are maintained and operate safely and at optimum performance levels. This position also ensures that the work is done in a timely manner that meets division commitments. The Elevator mechanic may also have opportunities to lead and train Elevator Apprentices.

Pay range for this position will be: $50.00 $57.00/hr depending on experience and education.



Responsibilities

Upgrading installing testing troubleshooting and repairing new and existing conveyance equipment in accordance with local and national codes.

Follow procedures for lubricating cleaning and maintaining conveyances according to the Maintenance Control Program (MCP) and National and local elevator codes.

Travel to perform conveyance work across the United States in facilities owned by the Church.

Understand and use measuring devices meters and other specialty testing and programming tools.

May need to act as a lead and direct work when assigned.

Onsite support for events.

Plan new or upgraded installations to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

This position requires 24hour oncall support.

May be assigned to help train an apprentice.

Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.



Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 4 years of work experience as an elevator mechanic.

Completed a fouryear elevator apprenticeship through the National Association of Elevator Contractors Certified Elevator Technician program or equivalent.

Able to diagnose and repair elevator problems with the use of mechanical drawings schematics (digitally or on paper) and diagnostic tools.

Required to have current licensure in all states and jurisdictions as required by law in which the work is performed.

Able to travel on a regular basis both driving and flying.

Proficient with computers for programming elevators PC chips and the use of Microsoft Office software may be required to learn CAD/CAM software.

Able to follow proper safety procedures when accessing elevator pits cartop and machine spaces.

Measures accurately and make conversions to other types of units linear speeds fluids weights etc.

Understand and be able to cut bend thread assemble and install electrical conduit and hydraulic piping using such tools as a hacksaw pipe threader hydraulic and hand conduit benders.

Can calculate wire fill for conduit and pull wiring through conduit make necessary splices etc. in compliance with codes.

Able to work from ladders scaffolds mechanical lifts and on top of elevator cars for extended periods of time.

Passes all required safety and equipment certifications and training.

Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing in English and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.

Able to work in a team in a professional manner as well as alone without supervision.

Valid drivers license required and may be required to become DOTcertified.

Can bend kneel squat push and pull for extended periods of time.

Has good eyehandfoot coordination.

Must have stable controlled hand movement.

Able to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds.

Can team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis.

Able to work in confined spaces with low light levels for extended periods of time.

Required to have at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.
