Team: You will be joining the team responsible for building the necessary underlying capabilities that will help power our digital video audio & print products well into the future. We work closely with our peers in all parts of the organisation to build world class products and services that our customers love.
Role: As a MidLevel Software Engineer to lead the development management and optimisation of our Planning and Operations ecosystems.
Day to day you will:
Oversee the integration and processing of planning and publishing data between systems implement best practices and create user guidance and training materials for new features and workflows.
Perform proactive maintenance updates and patch deployments ensuring robust system operations through ITSCM BCP event monitoring logging and secure backup policies. Optimise workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks and perform capacity planning for costeffective hosting.
Configure and maintain systems such as Newsway PitStop Switch GMG ColourServer and inhouse applications including developing integrations deploying changes and configuring new features and workflows for business units.
Collaborate with vendors for system upgrades patches and feature requests manage incidents and problems and provide timely support to users ensuring risks are identified recorded and mitigated where possible.
Work with Technology Operations and Editorial teams to align workflows gather stakeholder requirements and drive system development and testing using ITIL Agile and Kanban methodologies.
Support stakeholders by maintaining a product development roadmap communicating changes and proposing improvements to simplify standardise and automate operational procedures.
Monitor system performance troubleshoot issues and generate insights on system usage and workflow efficiency analysing data to identify trends and optimisation opportunities.
Stay updated on industry trends and evaluate new tools or technologies to enhance print publishing processes contributing to the overall strategy and improving systems tools and processes.
What we are looking for in you:
Subject matter expertise in print production planning PDF generation file transmission and system integrations to support workflows and recommend technology solutions.
Previous experience in ensuring reliable service delivery through proactive system maintenance effective incident response optimisation and continuous product improvement.
Extensive technical expertise required in Linux Windows and Mac systems scripting (e.g. Bash PowerShell Python PHP) version control (Git) and database tools (MySQL/MariaDB).
Experience with AWS Cloud technologies including EC2 S3 Lambda and monitoring tools (CloudWatch New Relic Zabbix) as well as infrastructure provisioning (Terraform CloudFormation) and containerisation.
Knowledge of authentication security networking concepts and scaling applications within AWS is advantageous.
