Job Description

Ascend is a fastgrowing nonprofit on a mission to address Indianas workforce misalignment. Ascends vision is for Indiana to be a place of economic opportunity for all. An initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) Ascend collaborates with corporate education philanthropic and community partners and is wellpositioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indianas workforce challenges.
As Software Engineering Intern you will work on meaningful projects gain handson experience with modern technologies and collaborate with experienced engineers. The Software Engineering Intern will play an active role in developing new projects and enhancing existing applications. This opportunity gets handson experience working on projects essential to Ascends future technology vision to support the states workforce development.
THE CONTRIBUTIONS YOULL MAKE
Development: Assist the team in the design and development of scalable and maintainable automation frameworks tailored to the Network. Utilize automation tools and technologies (e.g. Selenium) to automate functional regression and performance testing.
Test Creation: Support in identifying and prioritizing test cases suitable for automation. Draft clean maintainable and efficient code for automated tests and framework components.
Measure Outcomes: Analyze test results investigate failures document defects with bug tracking tools and troubleshooting issues to ensure accurate and reliable test execution.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers to integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate existing automation tools and technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Majoring in Information Technology Computer Science Informatics Business Engineering Data Analytics or a related field.
Basic understanding of software development lifecycles automation testing concepts and quality assurance principles.
Basic understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and a willingness to learn Playwright.
Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Passion for learning automation testing and QA processes.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Familiarity with testing concepts (e.g. functional regression and integration testing).
