BASIC PURPOSE:
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on various types of MWRA vehicles and equipment in a manner which ensures quality safety and proper working order to minimize down time and maximize productivity.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Automotive Fleet Foreman.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May provide direction to Coop students and Assistant Automotive Technician in Training

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Drivers License.
A Massachusetts Hoisting Operators License (1C).
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Mobile and portable radios; handheld motorized and pneumatic tools; copy and fax machines; handheld and desktop computer; diagnostic; forklifts and other materialhandling equipment.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move than 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance and peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is very loud in field settings and moderately loud at other work locations.
