Job Summary: The CNC Lathe and Swiss Programmer is responsible for programming setting up and operating CNC lathes and Swissstyle turning machines to produce precision components. This role involves interpreting technical drawings creating efficient machining programs selecting appropriate tools and ensuring parts meet quality specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills attention to detail and experience with multiaxis machining.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming: Write edit and optimize CNC programs using Gcode Mcode or CAM software (e.g. Mastercam Esprit or PartMaker) for CNC lathes and Swissstyle machines.
- Setup: Prepare machines by selecting and installing tools fixtures and materials; perform initial test runs to verify program accuracy.
- Operation: Operate CNC lathes and Swiss machines as needed monitoring performance and making realtime adjustments to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Tool Selection: Choose appropriate cutting tools speeds and feeds based on material type and part specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with tolerances and blueprints.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of programs setups and production data for future reference and process improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers machinists and quality assurance teams to refine designs and improve manufacturing processes.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and report any equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 years of experience programming and operating CNC lathes and/or Swissstyle machines.
- Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming (manual or CAMbased) blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with multiaxis machining Fanuc Contros Edge and FMB Bar Loaders live tooling and barfed operations typical of Swiss lathes.
- Software: Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g. Mastercam Fusion 360) is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in CNC machining is a plus.
- Attributes: Strong problemsolving skills attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and metalworking fluids.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in highvolume industries such as fitting and valve manufacturing or automotive.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or 5S methodology.
