Job Description

JOB TITLE: School NurseQUALIFICATION:o Valid state nurse certificationo Registered nurseREPORTS TO: PrincipalJOB DESCRIPTION: The school nurse/health educator provides the leadership inplanning and implementing health and educational services incooperation with the administrative AND RESPONSIBILITIES:o Serves as health advocate for the studento Assesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of students to identifyspecific physical conditionso Assesses and arranges appropriate management and referrals for children withhealth problemso Assists parents in assuming greater responsibility for health maintenance of thechildo Assists students in assuming some responsibility for their own health maintenanceo Assists in identifying evaluating and receiving historical information onhandicapped childreno Provides emergency health serviceso Contributes to health maintenance control and prevention of illness and accidentso Maintains a health record for each student and state mandated immunizationso Communicates information to students parents staff physicians and other healthrelated personnelo Participates with staff in developing and implementing school health programo Responsible for own professional growtho Performs related responsibilities as required by the principal
