The City of Bothells Finance Department is excited to welcome a skilled Senior Payroll Systems Analyst to the team! In this key role you will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing for the City. Youll bring deep payroll expertise strong analytical skills and technical knowhow to help maintain and enhance our payroll systems. What will you do in this position
- Payroll Processing & Accuracy Ensure timely and precise payroll execution including auditing submitted hours resolving discrepancies and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations while responding professionally to internal customer inquiries.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audits Work alongside the Payroll Supervisor to uphold payroll policies and procedures ensure alignment with benefit changes participate in audits and support reporting processes.
- Payroll System Expertise Act as the subject matter expert in payroll systems collaborating with IT to troubleshoot issues implement system updates and optimize performance.
- Data Management & Integrity Maintain accurate payroll records by managing employee updates (hires terminations deductions tax adjustments) and ensuring data integrity across automated systems.
- Vendor and System Collaboration Work with IT and external providers to implement payrollrelated software assess system upgrades and enhance payroll system functionality.
- Advanced Reporting & Analytics Generate payroll reports including statistical analyses and financial summaries while responding timely to external audit inquiries.
A successful candidate in this position will:
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in automated payroll systems and software applications particularly Excel and database tools.
- Advanced proficiency with payroll and timekeeping systems spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations tax laws and compliance standards.
- Analytical Skills:Ability to analyze technical and numerical data identify discrepancies and implement solutions.
- Communication:Clear and professional verbal and written communication capable of conveying complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
- ProblemSolving: Strong ability to troubleshoot systems and technical issues ensuring timely resolution.
- Organization and Accuracy:Exceptional attention to detail especially under timesensitive conditions.
