Full time starting salary is normally in the range 46735 to 55755 with potential progression once in post to 62728

Full time starting salary is normally in the range 57422 to 66537 with potential progression once in post to 86760

Background

The School of Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham UK is a worldleading department that combines innovative and translational research with evidencebased professional practice to promote lifelong engagement in physical activity optimising health wellbeing and performance for everyone. Consistently in the top 10 of the QS World University Rankings by Subject and in the top 5 in the latest UKs Research Excellence Framework our research allows us to address societal challenges from multidisciplinary perspectives and enriches our degree programmes.

We are seeking to appoint a fulltime Associate Professor in Exercise Physiology who will contribute at a senior level to research education and administration. The role holder will be expected to show excellent academic citizenship likely to be demonstrated through generous mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students.

We would welcome applications from individuals who can evidence involvement in exercise physiology research in sport health and/or rehabilitation. We welcome applicants who can clearly articulate how their research and scholarly activity informs and shapes their teaching. In addition we are keen to attract and support people working at the top of their field and able to demonstrate high quality research outputs and impacts.

You will join a thriving multidisciplinary academic community with access to excellent research and teaching facilities. We work closely with sporting organisations and clinical centres of excellence and have a strong focus on extending our research and impact to the communities we example of this is our recently launched Centre for Movement and Wellbeing.

Role Summary

The role holder will be based in Edgbaston. The key duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to: giving lectures and seminars and supervising undergraduate / postgraduate students course development and innovation taking an active part in examinations carrying out innovative research and writing papers on topics relevant to the specialist subject area (this will include journals books and other material) and obtaining research grant funding.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area as well as postdoctoral experience. We are looking for candidates who will actively contribute to our portfolio and community through pursuit of research that will bring new opportunities synergies and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will also have a track record in teaching at a higher education institution.
