About the Role
Research assistant to work on a project producing a literary map of Nottingham.
The University of Nottingham is working with Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to produce a literary map of the city. The map will highlight significant locations such as the birthplaces of writers and sites connected with publishing houses bookshops and libraries. Vitally we aim to include writers from underrepresented communities and to tell stories about literary activity in Nottingham that have often been overlooked.
The finished map will take two forms: as a printed item available from tourist sites in Nottinghamshire and digitally using a map based at City as Lab on the Universitys Castle Meadow Campus.
The responsibilities of the Research Assistant will include:
Collation and presentation of existing resources connected to literary Nottinghamshire and synthesising into digestible information for external feedback.
organising workshops with community groups aimed at allowing them to share some of Nottinghams hidden literary history
completing followup research on data sourced at workshops
collation of feedback from workshops and synthesising into final information to be used in each map form.
organising map data writing design brief for designer
liaising with retailers on stocking the map
organisation of map into digital file to be presented on PARM at City as Lab by RA
taking ownership of impact tracking with support from Faculty KE and Impact Managers
ownership of meeting records and actions arising
About You
You will have:
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good time keeping
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence liaising with suppliers
- Ability to take initiative
Desirable:
- Experience of interactive mapping software e.g. ARCGIS. (Allows you to attach media to points of map).
