05/11Provo Citys Covey Center for the Arts is seeking qualified Music Instructors to join our Summer 2025 semester! Qualified civicminded individuals interested in providing these services to Provo residents are encouraged to apply.The Covey Center provides a variety of music classes for all ages. The mission of our program is to offer noncompetitive quality classes for the community at an affordable price. Our classes are a wonderful introduction for children who may want to move on to a studio later or for families who are seeking an alternative to studios altogether. We believe its never too late to start! Our adult classes welcome all skill levels whether you are trying something new or would like to get back into it.

What is the compensation
Pay Rate: Starting at $15.00 per hour

What are the main duties
Create music lesson plans that balance creativity and technique
Teach classes to a group of students ranging from 11 years to adult.
Collaborate with the Dance Studio Program Coordinator to plan music selection costumes and performances.
Prepare an informal end of semester showcase for a small audience to see what your students have learned.
Qualified applicants may be offered to teach one or more classes.
What do I need to apply
Sufficient training and competency in your field of expertise.
Experience with teaching a music class and preparing for a performance.
Preference will be given to applicants who specialize in both voice and guitar.
Applicants that teach other styles of music are welcome to apply. Please let us know if you specialize in something we do not currently offer!
What are the hours and duration of this position
Classes are typically held Monday through Thursday in semesterlong increments. Teachers often teach 25 hours per week depending on preference and position runs for the duration of the 2025 Summer Semester June 2 August 8. Classes for this semester are as follows:
Tuesday mornings 10:3011:20am (Youth Group Guitar)
Wednesday afternoons 2:002:50pm (Youth Group Voice)
What kinds of classes would I teach
Youth Group Guitar
Beginner guitar course to introduce students to chords and strumming.
This class will help students begin to learn the basics with group songs and work toward small groups and/or solos.
Parents will be invited to watch students at the end of the semester as designated by the teacher.
Youth Group Voice
Beginner vocal class to teach students about caring for their vocal instrument and learning new singing techniques.
This class will help students begin to learn with group songs and work toward small groups and/or solos.
Parents will be invited to watch students at the end of the semester as designated by the teacher.

What is the selection process
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted with the first screening being held on DATE. Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Nondisclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
