JobGoal(s):To provide engaging standardsbased instruction in a world language (Spanish and/or French preferred) that supports students in developing language proficiency intercultural competence and a deeper global awareness. The teacher will foster an inclusive and communicative classroom environment where students can grow their reading writing listening and speaking skills in the target language.
Qualifications
- Strong content knowledge in world languages (Spanish and/or French preferred)
- Experience with proficiencybased language instruction and ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards
- Ability to integrate cultural perspectives and authentic materials into daily instruction
- Demonstrated skills in classroom management differentiation and the use of technology to support learning
- Commitment to student growth feedbackdriven instruction and professional collaboration
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Certifications
- Maine DOE Certification (World Languages Grades 712) or equivalent required
- CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) required
Performance Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver highquality proficiencybased instruction inworld language/s at the high school level.
- Design lessons aligned with ACTFL and state standards that support all modes of communication: interpretive interpersonal and presentation.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages risktaking in language learning.
- Integrate cultural and global perspectives into instruction to deepen student understanding and engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the World Language department and the broader school community.
- Communicate regularly with students families and support staff to ensure student success.
- Participate in professional development and schoolwide initiatives as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in related area preferred.
Experience
Working Schedule
- School Year Only (180 days)
- 7:30am 2:45pm
- Monday Friday
Travel Requirements
- Travel between schools or district buildingsmay be required for certain positions
Reports To:Building Principal
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation:Completed annually by Principal or designee
FLSA Status:Exempt
