Multimodality Technologist at the Magnolia Emergency Care Center - Part Time

At Houston Methodist the Multimodality Technologist position is an experienced Technologist responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic radiology procedures with two or more specialty modalities of moderate to high complexity. This position may perform other job duties related to admissions and registration medical assisting and transportation as needed. The Multimodality Technologist position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of various radiology procedures. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care situations. The Multimodality Technologist position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic procedures delivering exceptional patient care teamwork and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include but not limited to Xray MRI CT Mammography Ultrasound IR exams.

• Proactively assesses identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care image quality and patient experience which includes: positioning physiology procedure preparation and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.

• Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures including assisting with sterile technique.

• Performs when applicable what is required to meet the needs of patient care which may be one or more of the following: transporting registration admissions answering phones contacting physicians taking and monitoring vital signs EKGs starting IVs etc.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients staff and general public and follows radiation safety standards. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures regularly practices aseptic techniques and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures. Complies with job role department and hospital safety standards practices and policies.

• Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.

• Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.

• Assists with implementation and education of departmentbased safety initiatives and standards of practice.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered.

• Utilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Selfmotivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks assisting coworkers as needed.

EDUCATION

• Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications Licenses and Registrations section.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Two years combined experience in more than one specialty modality

• CMRT Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist State Licensure Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRTGC) thru the Texas Medical Board OR

• ARRTCT Radiologic Technologist Computed Tomography (ARRT) OR
• ARRTMR Radiologic Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT) OR
• ARRTM Radiologic Technologist Mammography (ARRT) OR
• ARRTVI Radiologic Technologist Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT) OR
• RDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in Ultrasound AND
• BLS Basic Life Support (AHA)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job determined through ongoing skills competency assessments and performance evaluations

• Sufficient proficiency in speaking reading and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
