What you will do atHarris County Purchasing Department:

Harris County Purchasing Department is seeking an experienced motivated and resourceful Training Specialist.


Under limited supervision the Training Manager will identify training needs and translate them into comprehensive programs that are designed to enhance the competencies of team members in the Harris County Purchasing Office and partnered County Departments. Individuals in this role will be responsible for developing instructional material leading training sessions and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the training courses. The Training Manager is expected to have a strong passion for learning and development exceptional instructional and design skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Assesses training and development needs for the Purchasing Office by conducting observations interviews focus groups and communicating with directors.
  • Builds various training programs based on identified opportunities and prepares team members for the next step(s) in their career path(s).
  • Leads training and development sessions courses and programs. In addition to creating and distributing instructional materials supplies aids and manuals.
  • Collects maintains and analyzes data to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs; utilizes data to recommend changes to necessary personnel and implements suggestions accordingly.
  • Maintains organized and accurate records and reports to document departmental programs and initiatives.
