Our Opportunity
Associate Vehicle Engineering (Austin TX) (multiple positions). Performing vehicular engineering analysis field and laboratory testing and original research for projects related to transportation accidents and mechanical failures. Conducting site scene vehicle and equipment inspections. Preparing written reports and presenting results and findings to diverse audiences. Coordinating engineering projects from initiation to completion. Executing various mechanical engineering test programs including fullscale vehicle tests (crash sled and handling tests). Utilizing knowledge of physics dynamics mechanical design and 3D CAD (AutoCAD SolidWorks and Rhino3D). Utilizing expertise in the automotive field such as the design and performance of existing and emerging automotive technology and the analysis and reconstruction of transportation accidents as well as vehicle handling demonstrations. Performing 3D simulations using EDCs HVE and MADYMO. Performing photogrammetric analysis using PhotoModeler. Utilizing Faro Focus 3D scanners for documenting and measuring large scenes and vehicles. Conducting downloads of vehicle EDRs (Electronic Data Recorders) using Bosch CDR. Communicating project updates to other team members clients and other staff. Limited domestic travel to unanticipated client sites .
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- Requires a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or related field
- 2 years of experience in the position offered or a related mechanical/automotive engineering position
- 2 years of experience in building full vehicle Finite Element models Morphing and Parameterization using Meshworks/Morpher and Hyperworks software
- 2 years of experience in utilizing Ansys LSDYNA simulation package available crash test and vehicle data to perform structural analysis and assess vehicle performance in a crash event
- 2 years of experience in utilizing Design of Experiments approach for shape gauge material and weld optimization to meet performance requirements with mass and cost constraints
- 2 years of experience in utilizing 3D CAD tools including AutoCAD and Solid Works
- 2 years of experience in utilizing knowledge of physics dynamics mechanical design and practical application to analyze damage to the vehicles
