CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Performs technical level police operations work under regular supervision from a technical superior. Work includes enforcing relevant Howard County Code civilian support to police work assisting with criminal and noncriminal complaints and performing support work for the various bureaus within the Police Department. Work may also include custody of property; collecting and preserving physical evidence; identifying criminals by prints and maintaining related records and files; identifying capturing transporting and caring for animals.

High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Customer service skills.
Ability to keep information confidential.
Exercise good judgement.
Ability to multitask.
Computer skills/data entry.

LANGUAGE SKILLS MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
