Job Summary

Promote a safe working environment for all employees through proper internal inspections review and written program management. Work to ensure that CooperVision adheres to enforces and abides by all Federal State and Local programs to the best of the companys ability. Minimize personal and business losses by implementing and enforcing all aspects of safety health and environmental regulations and best practices.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Assist with incident accident and nearmiss investigations including followup and corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Conducts routine equipment inspections including eyewash stations first aid rooms and AEDs.
  • Utilize EHS Software System EcoOnline to document investigations CAPA and inspections.
  • Assist EHS Department with audit preparation by reviewing previous audit results gap analysis and records review.
  • Develop training materials including PowerPoint video and short toolbox talk style communications.
  • Assist with implementation and development of sustainability measures.
  • Update Hazardous Communications Program for OSHA mandatory Global Harmonization System (GHS) Compliance.
  • Update Safety Data Sheets in online SDS management system.
  • Catalogue and archive older SDS.
  • Attend and assist facilitating EHS Team meetings with associates monthly.
  • Develop PowerPoint materials to train EHS Team Members on assorted topics.
  • Engage with employees on all levels of business to gather program feedback and promote a safe work environment.
  • Participate in the evaluation of candidates for quarterly safety recognition program.
  • Assist with maintaining environmental programs including RCRA Universal Waste No Exposure Certification and EPCRA/Tier II reporting.
  • Assist EHS Department with annual review of all written programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to assist EHS Department with any training activities or special events.


Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess the ability to read write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Must be able to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Must also learn to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry is desired. Should be able to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Able to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Competent in Excel Word and PowerPoint in Windows environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged sitting in front of computer hand/finger coordination. Frequent reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand and walk. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this job to include close vision color vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Light industry to office environment.

Education:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college program in any of the following fields or related fields: Environmental Sustainability Health and Safety Environmental Science Environmental engineering or equivalent.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation the starting base pay for this role is $25.50 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
