Position Overview:
The QA Tech is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured at Gasser Chair meet or exceed quality standards. This role includes performing inspections conducting tests documenting results and identifying areas for improvement in production processes. The QA Tech plays a key role in maintaining product consistency identifying nonconformances and collaborating with other departments to implement corrective actions.
Responsibilities:
- Product Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of inprocess and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications. Assist in inspecting finished products to assure acceptable appearance guidelines are met.
- Supplier and Internal Part Qualification: Inspect and qualify supplierprovided and internally manufactured parts to ensure conformance to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Documentation Management: Maintain Quality Assurance records of inspections nonconforming reports and other quality issues as required. Assist in creating and maintaining qualityrelated production control documents such as process flows standards procedures FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and control plans.
- Corrective and Preventive Actions: Assist in the corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) process to help reduce and prevent recurring quality and production issues. Work collaboratively to implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Random Audits: Randomly audit all phases of production to ensure compliance with established production control documents and adherence to quality standards.
- Customer Service Interface: Work with the Customer Service team to resolve quality issues as needed ensuring customer satisfaction and product conformance.
- Vendor Relations: Occasionally work with vendors to ensure their products meet Gasser Chairs quality expectations and specifications.
- CrossDepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with production engineering and other departments to address and resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Meetings and Reporting: Attend meetings with appropriate personnel relating to quality matters and prepare regular reports on quality metrics inspections and nonconformances for the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Process Improvements: Identify areas for improvement in production processes and work with crossfunctional teams to implement changes that enhance product quality and reduce defects.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in Quality Assurance or a related field is a plus.
- Experience in a quality assurance role preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality control principles methodologies and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings specifications and standards.
- Proficient in the use of measurement tools such as calipers micrometers and other inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in quality management software data entry and basic Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel Word) for reporting and tracking purposes. Prior ERP experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations industry standards and quality best practices.
Physical Requirements:
The QA Tech at Gasser Chair will be expected to perform job duties that require standing walking and moving around the manufacturing plant for extended periods. This role involves inspecting and testing products which may include lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. The technician must be able to work in various environmental conditions including exposure to noise heat and cold. Regular use of measurement tools and computers for documentation and reporting is also required.
