Position Overview:
Upward Bound instructors are responsible for providing challenging academic instruction to project participants during the oncampus sixweek summer session. **Please Note** This is a temporary parttime position June 16July 24 2025. The number of hours worked per week is dependent on the number of courses taught per instructor.
- Prepare a syllabus curriculum activities/assignments and assessments for subject area
- Prepare for and meet classes as assigned and maintain a safe learning environment
- Demonstrate concern for academic growth of all students by employing best practice strategies
- Evaluate and document student progress and communicate successes and concerns to Upward Bound permanent staff
- Request and assist in maintaining department equipment supplies and materials
- Participate in scheduled meetings with permanent staff and any relevant Upward Bound activities
- Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor
- Follow policies and procedures as stated in the Upward Bound handbook
- Submit documentation as requested by the Upward Bound program in a timely fashion
- Encourage and support Upward Bound activities policies procedures and philosophies
College/Department Overview:
Upward Bound Central Prep is a federally funded TRIO program that provides assistance to students so that they may complete high school and succeed in college.
Experience Required:
- Completion of a bachelors degree in education or subject area or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least one (1) year of teaching experience at the high school level
Experience Preferred:
- Oklahoma teaching certification for age level and subject area
- Experience working with lowincome and firstgeneration students in an educational setting
- Personal experience overcoming academic cultural financial or other obstacles similar to those faced by lowincome or firstgeneration students participating in the Upward Bound programs
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work cooperatively with other professional staff is of best practices in to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans to high school students preparing for college.
