Archaeologist OnCall
Pacific Northwest (WA OR)
ICF seeks OnCall Archaeologists for our Pacific Northwest region (based in Seattle Portland or Central Oregon). The OnCall/Temporary Archaeologist will initially be working on a large pedestrian block survey in northcentral Oregon expected to run for 2 months working 8 days on 6 days off field schedule. This project is expected to start in midtolate May. Single occupancy hotels will be provided for 8 day rotations as well as transportation to and from Seattle/Portland/Central Oregon if needed. $68 per diem is also provided for working days. Additional work after this survey is available and would primarily include fieldwork with tasks including construction monitoring survey testing evaluation and data recovery. However other duties could include laboratory analysis conducting background research report writing and other tasks as assigned. This position requires excellent field skills the ability to identify precontract and historicperiod artifacts and taking detailed field notes. Our cultural resources team includes experts in architectural history history archaeology GIS data management environmental regulations and planning.
About OnCall Employment with ICF
Given the seasonal or projectspecific nature of our environmental work ICF often hires environmental professionals as OnCall employees. OnCall employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (while we usually schedule work hours a few weeks ahead of time last minute scheduling may also occur) andeach oncall employee is free to accept or refuse the hours assigned to them in a given week. OnCall employees may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment (as long as their outside work does not create a conflict of interest with the work they do for ICF).
These positions are parttime and paid hourly as nonexempt.
Crew Member $25 to $30
What You Must Have Crew Member
Bachelors degree in Archaeology Anthropology or related field
2 years of experience in archaeological fieldwork including monitoring and survey
Must have valid drivers license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
Additional Knowledge & Experience
Ability to hike up to 10 miles a day in rugged terrain.
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF staff and construction personnel
Strong knowledge and familiarity with computers smart devices and completing data entry in application interfaces (such as ArcGIS Collector).
Experience in precontact or historicperiod archaeology of the Pacific Northwest
Ability to conduct field visits at locations in Seattle and throughout the Pacific Northwest
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
