St. James House is accepting applications for a fulltime Wound Care Nurse/Treatment Nurse.
JOB SUMMARY
He/She is responsible for the assessment and follow up of each residents need forand result of treatments provided in the facility or a designated area of the communicates with the other Licensed Staff of the facility in assessing needsand results of staff action to assure residents do not decrease their functionalabilities such as: obtain skin breakdown contractures weight loss skin tears and soforth while in the facility. Assists the facility to provide education assessment andintervention to assure prevention programs are implemented. Assists the facility infollowing appropriate infection control programs. Works with the facility as teammember to assure treatments are coordinated with other events of the day. Assiststhe Nursing Department to assure residents care plans are followed. Documents on records as per policy and procedures of the facility. Participates in staff meetingsand inservices as required. The Treatment Nurse is responsible to the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing.
EDUCATION
He/She must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently registeredwith the state agency for nursing licensure and hold a valid nursing license in thestate of Texas.

demonstrate ability to function as a cooperative team member witheach member of the Nursing Department and other departments.
demonstrate the ability to follow facilitys policies and procedures.
demonstrate the ability to manage and supervise the treatment plansfor each resident in the facility as indicated.

have a preemployment and an annual Tuberculosis screeningexamination.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Nursing Communication Books and Systems.
treatment for all residents as ordered.
special procedures as ordered.
rounds with physicians for those residents with treatment orders.
residents for risk of skin breakdown tears or lesions. Notes theserisks and appropriate intervention on the Working Copy of theInterdisciplinary Care Plan.
Nursing Assistants ability to provide skin prevention education as needed. Assists the Licensed Staff assigned to the unitsto supervise Nursing Assistants to assure programs are followed.
weekly skin records accurately describing onset date size locationcolor healing odors cultures etc. (Pressure Sore and NonDecub skincondition records).
the weekly skin reports for Facility information with the Director of Nursing notingprogress possible alternate interventions etc.
skin rounds with the Director of Nursing at least weekly discussingprevention progress or lack of progress noted.
with the Nursing Assistants and Licensed Staff to assure the residentother tasks of the day can proceed as appropriate( restorativeprograms activities etc.).
physicians of the healing or lack of healing of any lesions. If nohealing is noted in at least 3 to 4 weeks suggest alternate treatment besought.
orders as obtained for treatments.
and updates the Treatment Administration Record at the beginningof each month in preparation of the upcoming month.
all laboratory reports for possible infections. Provides education ofprevention of infections as needed.
tracking forms for all infections in preparation of the facilitysQuality Assessment and Assurance. Reviews the information with the Directorof Nursing and/or Administrator in preparation for the meetings.
the nursing department to provide a restorative atmosphere.
the Licensed Staff assigned to the units as necessary to assure qualitycare is provided.
any inappropriate findings noted while making rounds of the facility.
with auditing of charts.
with answering and correcting consultant reports.
appropriate notes in Communication Books to assure adequatecommunication is maintained for nursing.
in keeping other departments informed of residents change ofcondition as indicated.
in providing inservices for assigned staff as needed each day.
treatment cart stocked organized clean and in good repair.
Nursing Assistants in keeping residents turned repositioned free ofcontractures toileted etc.
in supervising meal service of each resident in the facility.
in providing required inservices of at least:
a. prevention of skin breakdown or tears
b. prevention of infections
in the assuring adequate equipment for prevention programs areavailable and used as indicated.
other tasks as assigned.
30. Attends required staff inservices meetings orientation and continuing education activities as required.
aware of and adheres to Patients Bill of Rights and confidentiality of patient information including HIPAA regulations.
32. Interacts with patients and family members coworkers clinical and ancillary staff in a nonjudgmental supportive and calm manner.
aware of Patient Abuse Reporting Law.
as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive helpful and enthusiastic attitude.

Must work throughout all nursing areas of the facility. Mayrequire working irregular hours and may be exposed tocommunicable diseases and/or body fluids medicalpreparations toxic substances and occasionally ionizingradiation.
