Job Description Summary
The Main Operating Room is within a levelone academic trauma center. There are 21 OR suites which cover all surgical specialties to include; Trauma Transplant Ortho Neuro ENT GUGYN Robotics and Burns. The nursing teams consists of 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologist. RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures. The Main OR is a busy and dynamic nurse driven Magnet designated department that provides cuttingedge technology to the citizens of SC.Entity

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift:Monday Friday; 24hour oncall coverage

Job Summary/Purpose:The Nurse Manager reports to the Director/Service Line Administrator. The Nurse Manager ensures the provision of his/her departments in collaboration with other health professionals in an environment that is respectful of others accountable for outcomes and adaptive to change. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the planning and comprehensive operations of department/unit on a 24hour basis.
Minimum Training and Education:Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree required and completion of Master of Nursing(MSN) or graduate degree in related field within one year. A minimum of 3 years of nursing work experience two years of supervisory experience required. Must have 2 years of operating room (scrub and circulator) experience.Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

For every 100 additional pounds assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction.
