Job Description
WGNTV Chicagos Very Own is a division of Nexstar Media Group and the Creative Services group which provides inhouse creative and marketing needs for WGNTV and our family of digital products. We are offering a fulltime opportunity to an enthusiastic motivated and ambitious Art Director to be an integral part of the Creative Services group. This role will be responsible for the execution of creative from concept boards to final animation. The Art Director will lead a team of designers and will work on projects for a wide array of mediums including digital broadcast social media and print. An ideal candidate will have proven experience managing multiple projects and the ability to work collaboratively and independently with other departments at the station while producing bestinclass creative in a fastpaced television or streaming environment. We are looking for a visionary who is selfmotivated and will make the station standout both on the streaming and digital end as well as our legacy broadcast station with great design work on every project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Art Director position is a multifaceted role that provides leadership and design expertise as well as providing graphic support for: onair products digital display and streaming video online and mobile applications and social media.
- You will work closely with the Creative Director on future planning and longrange goals. This position will drive the image of the brand and develop a cohesive innovative look and tone to viewers and client initiatives across multiple platforms.
- Foster a collaborative and creative team environment working with team members to push boundaries and achieve creative excellence while maintaining a consistency of brand identity across all platforms and channels.
- Design and execute all onair digital mediums and print graphics and compositions for all the stations promotional activities and broadcasts.
- You will work with WGN News Director Production Director and assigned Producers to develop infographics and news graphics for stations newscasts locally created content and WGN and digital streams.
- Work with Creative Services Producers and Production teams to skillfully develop any needed graphics for promotions campaigns and executions.
- To design and collaborate as directed by Director Creative Services any promotional graphics and designs including digital display streaming video onair stills and motion graphics web promotions print outdoor advertising and promotional campaigns including any collateral used by the sales department for presentations to advertisers and businesstobusiness communications.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires an undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience.
- Must be a handson motion graphics designer/animator with a portfolio/reel that reflects your skills.
- Must be able to create digital designs and animation; evaluate graphic talent and provide leadership to graphic and motion artists.
- Designs and animations will be developed using current stateoftheart equipment and must be able to use graphic design and animation software to develop promotions and sell programming to viewers and advertisers.
- Must be skilled in After Effects Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software and be skilled with Cinema 4D or like 3D software.
- Must also have a keen sense of current standards in digital video digital display television social media and print design.
- Requires 46 years experience with either: creating digital animations and designs a television station or broadcast network and/or PostProduction facility.

SALARY RANGE: $105000 $115000 Annualized
