POSITION PURPOSE:
North Wind Portage is seeking to hire a qualified applicant for a contamination control technician position. The preferred candidate will be a team player with excellent attention to detail who is looking to gain experience in the environmental remediation industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform routine disinfection of frequently touched surfaces.
- Clean appliances lavatories and showers.
- Restock consumable inventories.
- Vacuum mop scrub and polish floors.
- Remove trash and other refuse.
- Remove dust from equipment furniture and fixtures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform decontamination activities in accordance with site procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent work experience.
- 1 year of work experience in contamination control custodial engineering or similar role.
Skills and Abilities:
- Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
- Understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Understand the operational characteristics of the assigned equipment.
- Clearly communicate professionally both orally and in written form.
- Have knowledge of and comply with all regulations and procedures governing safe driving inspection and maintenance of equipment.
- Execute tasks after receiving written or oral instructions.
- Maintain records related to tasks performed.
Special Requirements:
- Proof of US citizenship.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- May be required to pass a preemployment background check.
- Must be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.
- Must be able to receive a normal BeLPT result.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination including a pulmonary function test.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime and weekends pending demand.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current 40Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Rad Worker II training.
- Current normal BeLPT result.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work in hot or cold environments for reasonable periods of time.
- Physically able to perform job tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Both indoor and outdoor tasks to be expected.
- Elevated noise levels possible.
- Use of equipment such as but not limited to; vacuums mops wet brushes and pressure washers.
