Job Description


Administers all finance human resources (hiring of CFAR Scholar Summer Interns) and facilities and other operational activities for the Developmental Core of the UCSFBay Area Center for AIDS Research the research & career development program component of the large Center for AIDS Research. Administers major program components including the CFAR Awards Programs the CFAR Mentoring Program our annual Mentoring the Mentors Workshop and other associated training activities our summer CFAR Scholar Internship Program and our supplemental funding activities and all of the programs operational requirements. Develops and organizes the annual Future Leaders Symposium and assists in the organization of other CFARsponsored events and conferences. Works under the direction of the CFAR Principal Investigator and the CFAR Associate Director (Academic Program Manager 1) to establish and achieve the CFAR Developmental Core agenda funding and other objectives.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $93600 $140400 (Annual Rate).

    • Terminal degree in a related area (PhD JD MD etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training preferred
    • Proficiency and experience with Airtable
    • Event Planning Experience (at least 1 year)
    • Thorough knowledge of administrative budgetary human resources and financial principles and practices.
    • Academic background and/or experience in selected area of research preferred.

    Department Description
    The University of California San FranciscoBay Area Center for AIDS Research (UCSFBay Area CFAR) is a federally funded center grant with responsibility for supporting and facilitating interdisciplinary and collaborative HIV research at UCSF the Gladstone Institutes the San Francisco Department of Public Health Vitalant Research Institute and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Serving over 800 investigators the CFAR initiates novel multidisciplinary research projects and grants and produces crosscampus communication outreach educational activities and high profile local national and international scientific forums. The Center includes 5 cores: Administrative Developmental Clinical BioBehavioral and Basic & Translational as well as one Scientific Working Group focused on Ending the HIV Epidemic priorities. The UCSFBay Area CFAR is also a member of the national network of 20 NIHfunded Centers for AIDS Research and actively supports and participates in various national CFAR research and administrative efforts. The CFAR Developmental Core which this position would manage is the home of our Awards programs our Mentoring Program our Mentoring the Mentors Annual Workshop our annual Summer CFAR Scholar Internship Program and our supplemental awards programs and any other activities related to career development. The overall annual CFAR budget is approximately $3.5 million and the Developmental Core makes up approximately 1/3 of the overall budget.

    In addition this role provides programmatic support for the UCSF AIDS Research Institute (ARI) which strengthens UCSFs HIV research care and education efforts with a mission to end the HIV epidemic and address related social challenges. In collaboration with CFAR ARI provides approx. 1M annually in awards training and research support.
