Assistant Professor - Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon

Position Description:

The Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F & MCW) Transplant Service Line and the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery are seeking a Board Certified / Board Eligible liver transplant surgeon interested in advancing an academic career in a vibrant and growing transplant center.

The liver transplant program underwent a transformational change in the last 18 months and has ambitious plans with innovation quality and clinical excellence for the future. The transplant program has a 20bed ICU that has outstanding expertise in the management of decompensated liver disease patients.

Opportunity

• Fulltime faculty position within the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery and the Department of Surgery in conjunction with the F & MCW Transplant Service Line.
• Opportunity to grow the adult liver transplant program.
• Opportunity to build the Living Donor Liver Transplant program at Froedtert Hospital and Childrens Wisconsin in partnership with Faculty colleagues.
• Contribute to surgical management of childrens liver diseases including liver transplantation liver tumor surgery and management of portal hypertension.
• Collaborate with transplant surgeons hepatologists intensivists transplant and hepatology APPs and other members of the service line to expand liver transplant care.
• Contribute to the clinical education of fellows residents medical students and other trainees.
• Participate in the academic research and educational missions of the institution.
• A strong intensivist and inpatient APP team for care of patients in the Transplant Intensive Care Unit (TICU).
• Robust support for clinical research

• Focus on a patientcentered approach to delivery of care and engage in a climate of inquiry quality and safety.

Education training and experience required:

• Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgery.
• Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin.
• Candidates must have training/experience from an accredited liver fellowship/equivalent including living donor liver transplantation.
• Experience with machine perfusion technology is essential.
• Experience in split liver transplantation pediatric liver transplantation hepatobiliary surgery are desirable.
